Despite big home wins in the Round 1 of the Investec Champions Cup, the measure of South Africa's leading tournament contenders will be in how they play away from home.

Analysts Mark Keohane and Zelim Nel argue that the true test of the Bulls and Stormers' Investec Champions Cup credentials lies in performing away from home. While both South African franchises secured dominant bonus-point home wins in Round 1, Keohane and Nel contend that succeeding in difficult European conditions is vital to proving they can genuinely contend for the title.
Keohane urged both teams to deploy their strongest lineups for crucial away fixtures rather than rotating squads to favor domestic competitions. He highlighted the Stormers' upcoming December clash in France against defending champions Bordeaux as a pivotal benchmark to determine whether the franchise can realistically challenge for European silverware.
