Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has criticized INEOS, claiming the ownership group rejected his advice to improve the club's data department. Ten Hag stated that INEOS believed they already knew everything despite their background in petrochemicals, Formula 1, and cycling, arguing that top football demands different approaches to innovation and analytics.
Now serving as a director at FC Twente, Ten Hag explained that Manchester United lagged behind rivals in data utilization compared to clubs like Ajax. Ten Hag was dismissed by INEOS in November 2024 following a poor start to the Premier League season.
