The Los Angeles Lakers have officially waived forward Dalton Knecht just days before the start of the 2026-27 NBA regular season. The decision was announced on Monday, October 19, as the franchise trimmed its roster to meet the league's mandatory 15-player limit. Los Angeles reportedly explored trade possibilities involving Knecht, but were unable to complete a suitable deal.
Knecht was originally selected by the Lakers with the No. 17 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft following a standout college career at Tennessee. After averaging 9.1 points per game as a rookie, his role diminished in his second season, where he averaged 4.2 points in 54 appearances.
