Ferrari have hired former Mercedes power unit engineer Jasper van Schaick as they look to address their biggest weakness. It was first reported last month…

Ferrari have signed former Mercedes power unit engineer Jasper van Schaick as a chassis vehicle system specialist to address performance issues. The move reunites Van Schaick with driver Lewis Hamilton, deputy team principal Jerome D'Ambrosio, and chassis technical director Loic Serra. Van Schaick previously spent years at Mercedes, where he contributed to four Formula 1 constructors' championship victories between 2018 and 2021.
Ferrari have struggled with engine performance, with their internal combustion engine trailing the benchmark by at least four percent. Hamilton has stated that the car loses up to four-tenths of a second on straights. Van Schaick is expected to help optimize the balance between the chassis and engine performance moving forward.
