Borussia Dortmund defeated Azerbaijani side Sabah FK 2-1 away from home on October 21, 2026, to snap a three-game winless streak across all competitions. Serhou Guirassy opened the scoring in the 10th minute before Aden McCarthy equalized for Sabah off a free-kick. Guirassy restored Dortmund's lead in the 53rd minute after converting a cross from Joey Veerman.
The victory also ended a run of four consecutive away defeats for Dortmund in the Champions League. Writer Patrick Morrison notes that while the performance was dull, Dortmund controlled the game metrics, though manager Niko Kovac continues to heavily rotate his front three.
