The Yankees owner says Apollo will have "zero" say in the daily operations of New York's American League franchise.

New York Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner stated Wednesday that he has no plans to sell the franchise following a $2.6 billion financing deal with Apollo Global Management. Speaking from Tampa during an end-of-season news conference, Steinbrenner insisted the transaction is not a precursor to a full sale and is intended to provide long-term financial stability across future generations of family ownership.
The deal gives Apollo a 16 percent stake, though Steinbrenner emphasized the private equity firm will have zero control over day-to-day operations. Additionally, Steinbrenner confirmed that manager Aaron Boone will return for 2027 and that general manager Brian Cashman has agreed to terms on a contract extension.
