The Story in 60 Seconds

The Milwaukee Brewers swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in four games during the NLCS, giving them seven days of rest before Game 1 of the World Series. Despite external concerns that an extended layoff could hurt Milwaukee, Baseball Now reports that recent history favors well-rested teams. All three teams that swept the LCS since 2019—the 2019 Nationals, 2022 Astros, and 2025 Dodgers—went on to win the World Series.

Baseball Now notes that the extra rest could benefit the Brewers due to heavy postseason bullpen usage. While starting pitchers Jacob Misiorowski, Logan Henderson, and Robert Gasser have not pitched deep into games, relievers Aaron Ashby, DL Hall, Abner Uribe, Trevor Megill, and JoJo Romero have logged significant innings. Milwaukee previously handled extended time off successfully this postseason after having a bye in the Wild Card Series.
