Former junior world No. 1 Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez has signed an Athletic Scholarship Agreement with the University of Texas. Longhorns head coach Bruce Berque announced that the 21-year-old Mexican player will join the program in the spring of 2027. Currently ranked world No. 263 on the ATP tour, Pacheco Mendez represents a high-profile addition to the Texas roster.
Despite joining the collegiate ranks to study Sport Management, Pacheco Mendez's father clarified that he is not abandoning professional tennis. He is slated to compete in several Challenger events this autumn before arriving in Austin. Meanwhile, Texas teammate Gabriel Debru announced his departure from the college program to return to the professional tour.
