After spending eight seasons as a member of the Ottawa Senators, forward Brady Tkachuk made his first return on Wednesday night as a visiting player with the Florida Panthers.
Yardbarker's Adam Gretz argues that Ottawa Senators fans were completely justified in giving former captain Brady Tkachuk a harsh, hostile reception during his return with the Florida Panthers on Wednesday night. Tkachuk was heavily booed throughout warmups and targeted with insulting chants before scoring a first-period power-play goal. Gretz maintains that the hostility was well-earned after Tkachuk requested an offseason trade with two years remaining on his contract to join his brother Matthew in Florida.
According to Gretz, the Senators should not have honored Tkachuk with a tribute video given the contentious nature of his departure. The writer notes that Tkachuk limited management's trade options and achieved little postseason success during his eight seasons in Ottawa, having won only two playoff games and going scoreless in a first-round sweep to conclude the 2025-26 campaign.
