Arnold Barboza Jr. revealed on social media that he has received a short-notice opportunity to fight for a welterweight world title in the coming weeks. While Barboza confirmed the bout will take place at 147 pounds with a belt on the line, he did not explicitly name his opponent. Speculation quickly centered on Devin Haney following the collapse of Haney's planned matchup against Shakur Stevenson.
Barboza indicated that the bout could take place within a couple of weeks, though a location and signed contract have not yet been finalized. He also stated that capturing a 147-pound belt is a crucial step toward securing a future rematch against Teofimo Lopez.
