BCCI President Mithun Manhas says fitness and performance, not age, should determine selection for the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
BCCI President Mithun Manhas stated that fitness and performance, rather than age, will determine player selection for the 2027 ODI World Cup. The tournament is scheduled to take place from October 4 to November 21 across South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli remain in contention for the squad following strong recent form in ODI cricket against the West Indies.
While noting that final squad decisions rest with selectors and coaches, Manhas emphasized that performing and winning matches should be the primary criteria. He added that experienced players like Kohli, Rohit, and Hardik Pandya would offer valuable support to ODI captain Shubman Gill during the campaign.
