The Pittsburgh Penguins recalled forward Rutger McGroarty and defenseman Chase Pietila from the AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Thursday. The roster moves follow injuries to forwards Bryan Rust and Ben Kindel, who were both placed on injured reserve. Rust was injured during Monday's game against Utah, while Kindel experienced a vasovagal episode on the team flight Tuesday.

McGroarty joins Pittsburgh after registering nine points in six AHL games, while Pietila seeks his NHL debut. Neither prospect joined line rushes ahead of Thursday's matchup with Florida.
