Tottenham Hotspur are looking towards Barcelona to strengthen their backline, with two of the Catalan club’s defenders on their radar. Just a few days ago…

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly monitoring Barcelona defender Gerard Martin, having also tracked young right-back Xavi Espart. Spurs face widespread competition for the 24-year-old versatile defender, with Chelsea, Liverpool, Inter Milan, and Bayern Munich also credited with an interest in a potential permanent transfer. Martin features a release clause valued at €100m (£84m).
Despite the external interest, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is firmly opposed to selling Martin and rates his tactical flexibility highly. Barcelona officials have already initiated discussions with Martin's representatives regarding a contract extension until 2031, which would include a substantial salary increase on his current deal running until 2028.
