Ottawa Senators forward William Eklund addressed the media to reflect on his trade from the San Jose Sharks and comment on his current lower-body injury. Eklund expressed that he was not surprised by the move, acknowledging the business side of professional hockey, while sharing his excitement about joining Ottawa.
The injury, sustained in just his fourth appearance for the Senators, will sideline Eklund for both matchups against his former team this season. The trade reunited Eklund with close friend Fabian Zetterlund, while Sharks captain Macklin Celebrini shared that the locker room found losing Eklund difficult.
