St Helens have appointed former Super League player Joey Walsh to the newly-created role of General Manager of Recruitment & Rugby. The 37-year-old former forward, who previously played for Harlequins and Huddersfield Giants, has spent the years since his retirement brokering and advising on player transfers across rugby league and rugby union.
In his new position, Walsh will oversee recruitment at both the senior and pathway levels as incoming head coach Kevin Walters prepares to join following the 2026 Rugby League World Cup. The club has already confirmed several additions for the 2027 season, including Solomona Faataape, Christian Tuipulotu, and Sean O'Sullivan.
