Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani received encouraging news heading into the offseason, as the two way sensation is not expected to need surgery and is projected to return to the mound during the 2027 MLB season.
Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani will not require surgery for his knee and biceps injuries and is expected to pitch during the 2027 season. Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman confirmed the news, stating the team anticipates Ohtani recovering through rest and being ready for spring training.
Ohtani's pitching campaign ended prematurely on July 3, 2026, due to physical discomfort. Despite the setback, he hit 30 home runs and posted a 1.79 ERA across 14 starts, and the Dodgers plan to carefully manage his two-way workload moving forward.
