Former Wakefield Trinity captain Matty Ashurst has completed a return to Salford RLFC on a two-year contract following his departure from Oldham RLFC. The 36-year-old forward previously played for Salford between 2012 and 2014, making 75 appearances and scoring 12 tries, and is expected to see out the remainder of his playing career with the club.
Ashurst previously made his Super League debut with St Helens in 2009 before playing 230 games for Wakefield Trinity, where he captained the side to Championship promotion in 2024. His signing follows the departures of Kieran Dixon, Fin Yates, Owen Haldenby, and Danny Lynch from the Ryan Brierley-led Salford side.
