The Minnesota Vikings made a backfield move on Monday that could pay off as soon as Sunday against the Colts.

The Minnesota Vikings designated running back Jordan Mason to return from injured reserve on Monday, opening a 21-day practice window. Mason has been sidelined since Week 2 with a thumb injury sustained during the season opener against the Green Bay Packers. The undefeated Vikings, coming off their Week 6 bye, are optimistic that Mason can return for Sunday's matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.
During Mason's four-game absence, veteran running back Aaron Jones Sr. handled most of the workload, accumulating 97 carries for 410 yards and two touchdowns across five games. Head coach Kevin O'Connell relied heavily on Jones while other backup options saw limited action. Mason's anticipated return is expected to reinforce a Minnesota ground game that currently ranks 19th in the NFL.
