The Orlando Magic are still searching for the right point guard to lead the team. They had three players take on the role in their opener to some success.

The Orlando Magic showcased new rotations and a shared point guard approach under head coach Sean Sweeney during their season opener against the Atlanta Hawks. With Anthony Black sidelined, the team experimented with several offensive initiators, including Franz Wagner, Jalen Suggs, and Jase Richardson, signaling a committee-based strategy in handling primary ball-handling duties.
Wagner surprisingly led the team in minutes at point guard, recording 22 points and five assists. Suggs distributed five assists while balancing on-ball and off-ball duties, and rookie Richardson provided defensive energy off the bench in 14 minutes. Orlando Magic Daily notes that the team appears poised to distribute playmaking responsibilities broadly across the backcourt this season.
