The World Series is underway, and Milwaukee Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski made history on the very first pitch he threw.

Milwaukee Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski made MLB history in Game 1 of the World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays. On his very first pitch of the game to Yandy Diaz, the right-hander threw a 103.5 mph fastball, setting the record for the fastest pitch ever thrown in a World Series game. He surpassed the previous mark of 103.2 mph set by Aroldis Chapman in 2016.
The pitch also broke Noah Syndergaard's record of 101.1 mph for the fastest World Series pitch by a starting pitcher. Meanwhile, Milwaukee added veteran pitcher Brandon Woodruff to the roster ahead of the series after he rehabilitated faster than expected from an injury that nearly required season-ending surgery in August.
