Milwaukee Brewers left-hander Aaron Ashby credited lessons on composure from his father for his dominant postseason run following a 3-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 1 of the World Series on Friday at American Family Field. Ashby tossed another scoreless relief outing, emphasizing deep breaths and poise on the mound.
Ashby has not allowed a run this postseason, completing at least 12 consecutive scoreless playoff innings to join historical company like Mariano Rivera and Goose Gossage. Teammates Trevor Megill, who closed out the ninth inning, and catcher William Contreras also drew praise from Ashby as Milwaukee looks ahead to Game 2.
