Vaibhav Sooryavanshi walked in at No.3 but, like his fellow top order batsmen, failed to get going in the second T20I in Christchurch.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was moved out of India's opening batting slot for the first time in his international career, batting at No. 3 during the second T20I against New Zealand in Christchurch. The 15-year-old scored four runs off eight balls before being dismissed by Nathan Smith in the seventh over.
Sooryavanshi replaced the injured Ishan Kishan in the lineup as India maintained the opening pair of Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma. Chasing New Zealand's total of 180/5, Sooryavanshi received an early reprieve when a catch was dropped, but he struggled for fluency on a challenging surface.
