Bam Adebayo played a severely limited role in the Miami Heat's loss to the Detroit Pistons due to early foul trouble. Adebayo went scoreless and recorded zero assists in the first half after picking up three fouls in the opening quarter. Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra opted to sit him for the entire second quarter, contributing to Miami dropping to 0-2 on the season.
Billy Heyen writes that Miami's struggles extend beyond Adebayo, highlighting poor perimeter shooting as a recurring issue. The Heat attempted more 3-pointers than the Pistons but made fewer. Heyen emphasizes that frontcourt stars need better floor spacing and shooting from surrounding role players for the offense to reach its full potential.
