Scottish FA head of refereeing Willie Collum admitted that match officials made VAR mistakes in recent games involving Rangers and Celtic. Collum confirmed that St Mirren should have received a penalty against Rangers after Emmanuel Fernandez stepped on Ismeal Kabia's foot, which referee Don Robertson and VAR Steven McLean missed before Bojan Miovski scored a late winner for Rangers in their 1-0 victory. Additionally, Collum stated that Celtic should have been awarded a penalty against Motherwell when Callum McGregor's goalbound shot struck Lukas Fadinger's arm.
Collum also addressed complaints from Hearts regarding a disallowed goal in their 1-1 Premiership draw with Kilmarnock. Despite Hearts arguing the goal should have stood as a Cathal McCarthy own goal, Collum defended the referee's decision to rule it out after replays showed the ball struck Laurent Mendy's arm immediately prior to his shot.
