Jevon Holland to miss Texans game as beleaguered Giants defense suffers another brutal blow
Key Things to Know
  • New York Giants safety Jevon Holland will miss Sunday's game against the Houston Texans due to a concussion.
  • Holland practiced on a limited basis this week and traveled with the team, but failed to clear concussion protocol.
  • Jason Pinnock and Ar'Darius Washington are in line to replace Holland at safety.
The Story in 60 Seconds

New York Giants safety Jevon Holland has been downgraded to out for Sunday's matchup against the Houston Texans. Holland remains in concussion protocol despite participating in practice on a limited basis on Thursday and Friday. Although he traveled with the squad to Houston, he did not make sufficient progress to gain clearance, marking his first missed game of the season.

Holland's absence further depletes a defense that has already lost Brian Burns and Tremaine Edmunds to season-ending injuries. Safeties Jason Pinnock and Ar'Darius Washington are expected to step in, while safety Tyler Nubin remains questionable. The Giants will also be without tight end Theo Johnson, who was ruled out due to a neck injury.
