Aston Villa manager Unai Emery explained his decision to omit Chelsea loanee Alejandro Garnacho from the squad for Saturday's 2-1 Premier League victory over Manchester City. Despite the 22-year-old winger playing 20 minutes in a Champions League win over Viking, Emery noted that other players were ready and available, while stressing that Garnacho continues to make progress.
Nicolas Jackson scored both goals for Aston Villa in the win, earning praise from Emery for his tactical maturity and work rate since his summer transfer from Chelsea. Emery also commended goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, signed from Parma for £30 million, highlighting his ambition and distribution in build-up play.
