T.J. Hughes is quickly adjusting to the NHL, earning praise from Nathan MacKinnon and Jared Bednar for his work ethic, hockey IQ, and ability to turn lessons into results.

Nathan MacKinnon and head coach Jared Bednar praised Colorado Avalanche rookie T.J. Hughes for his rapid development and hockey IQ. Hughes impressed team leaders during Colorado's 6-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning at Ball Arena on Friday, where he set up Nazem Kadri for a power-play goal.
Bednar noted that Hughes immediately corrected four or five areas pointed out during a morning video session. MacKinnon also highlighted Hughes' dedication and work ethic, describing the young player as an eager student of the game.
