The Story in 60 Seconds

Sheffield Wednesday have sacked head coach Henrik Pedersen following consecutive League One defeats against Notts County and Doncaster Rovers. The 48-year-old Danish manager's departure comes after less than 15 months in charge, leaving Wednesday in eighth place and two points outside the play-off places. Matt Hamshaw has been appointed interim manager and will lead the squad against Cambridge United on Tuesday.

Pedersen initially took charge following Danny Rohl's exit before enduring an 18-point deduction and relegation from the Championship last season under former owner Dejphon Chansiri. Despite a takeover by US consortium Arise Capital Partners and winning four of their first five matches this season, sporting director Simon Wilson cited a lack of progress in playing style and performance consistency as the reason for the dismissal.
