The Vancouver Canucks have placed defenseman Jack Thompson on waivers with the goal of assigning him to the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks. Thompson has not played yet this season after suffering a facial injury when struck by a puck during the pre-season, but he has now returned to full health.
The 24-year-old defenseman joined Vancouver from the San Jose Sharks in March in exchange for Jett Woo. Thompson registered 13 points in 14 games with Abbotsford last season, which earned him a one-year, two-way contract extension during the summer.
