Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman reveals Red Wings center Dylan Larkin could waive his trade clause for Montreal if Kent Hughes wows Detroit.

Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported on his 32 Thoughts podcast that it has become increasingly likely Detroit Red Wings center Dylan Larkin could expand his trade list to include the Montreal Canadiens. Friedman noted the "line has moved" on a potential deal, partly attributed to Larkin receiving a positive reception from fans at the Bell Centre. The 30-year-old center is eager to secure a permanent trade out of Detroit and has expanded his preferred destinations to ten teams.
According to Friedman and additional reports, both clubs have sent pro scouts to evaluate each other's games. Red Wings interim GM Shawn Horcoff is reportedly seeking young centers in return, with Montreal possessing potential trade assets such as Oliver Kapanen, Alexander Zharovsky, Michael Hage, and Owen Beck. Montreal GM Kent Hughes would need to negotiate an acceptable package with Detroit before Larkin would formally sign off on the move.
