In a bombshell move the Sydney Roosters have withdrawn their contract offer for Sam Walker beyond 2027.
The Sydney Roosters have officially withdrawn their contract extension offer for 24-year-old halfback Sam Walker beyond the 2027 season. The NRL premiers announced on Monday night that negotiations ended after both parties were unable to reach an agreement on terms, despite talks previously nearing a conclusion ahead of November 1.
The Roosters had reportedly raised their offer from $4.4 million to $5.2 million over four years, with ratchet clauses pushing the potential value near $6 million. Walker had sought to finalize the permanent extension before representing the Kangaroos in the World Cup against the Cook Islands, but the club stated its focus remains on long-term squad balance.
