The 154-Test prop is not quite ready to retire, but the Brumbies have already harnessed his unrivalled experience as a hybrid player/scrum coach.

Record-breaking Wallabies prop James Slipper has begun preparing for life after rugby by serving as a specialist scrum coach for the ACT Brumbies during the Super Rugby AUS series. The 37-year-old stepped in while forwards coach John Ulugia was away with Australia, working closely with senior assistant coach Ben Mowen, skills coach Dan Hooper, and head coach Stephen Larkham in a hybrid player-coach role.
Slipper, who holds Australia's national record with 154 caps, confirmed he will continue playing for the Brumbies in 2027. However, he was omitted from national coach Les Kiss's 33-man squad for the Nations Championship as the Wallabies focus on giving experience to younger players.
