The Football Association of Wales (FAW/CBDC) has officially launched "Llunio Cymru," a comprehensive 10-year strategy spanning 2026 to 2036. The strategic plan aims to grow grassroots participation, elevate domestic football, and enhance national team performance on the global stage. Formulated after gathering over 3,000 contributions from across the Welsh football community, the initiative is driven by core values of excellence, family, respect, and courage, as highlighted by FAW Chief Executive Noel Mooney.

Key targets include increasing registered players from 120,000 to 160,000 by 2036, which incorporates an additional 20,000 women and girls. The plan also establishes elite development pathways with Welsh professional clubs to feed senior squads, aims for the senior national teams to qualify for 50 percent of major international tournaments, and targets reducing hate and discrimination incidents by 70 percent.
