The Giannis Antetokounmpo era in Miami has started horribly - the Atlanta Hawks may have been correct in choosing to not trade for the Greek Freak.

Writer Ian Kearney argues that the Atlanta Hawks made the right decision by refusing to trade major assets for Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Miami Heat, who acquired Antetokounmpo during the summer, have begun the 2026-27 NBA season with an 0-3 record, while the Hawks have opened with a 2-1 start.
Proposed mock trades previously suggested Atlanta could have surrendered Trae Young, Zaccharie Risacher, and four first-round picks to acquire the superstar. Kearney contends that avoiding Milwaukee's high asking price has kept Atlanta's future intact while proving that adding Antetokounmpo does not guarantee immediate contention.
