Nic Maddinson and Sam Harper have been released from the Test squad to play in the Sheffield Shield for their respective sides…

Australia batter Steven Smith underwent a fitness test ahead of the deciding Test against South Africa at Newlands in Cape Town. Captain Pat Cummins conceded that Smith may not be at full fitness due to a lingering neck injury sustained in Gqeberha. Head coach Andrew McDonald indicated that Smith is expected to be available following his 35-minute net session during Australia's final training.
Meanwhile, Australia confirmed that Nic Maddinson has been omitted from the squad and will fly home to play Sheffield Shield cricket, allowing Matt Renshaw to open alongside Travis Head. Cameron Green is set to return to the middle order, while Marnus Labuschagne is likely to retain his spot if Smith is passed fit. Wicketkeeper cover Sam Harper has also departed the tour.
