Donald Trump ally Ted Cruz was met with a chorus of boos from F1 fans during the podium ceremony at the 2026 US Grand Prix on Sunday.

Republican Senator Ted Cruz was met with loud boos from spectators during the 2026 US Grand Prix podium ceremony at Circuit of the Americas in Austin. Cruz appeared on the podium to present the first-place trophy to Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli following the Italian's victory. The hostile crowd reaction began upon Cruz's introduction, continued through the trophy handover, and subsided only when Antonelli lifted his award to cheers.
Cruz, a prominent ally of Donald Trump, later posted on social media calling the presentation an honor and congratulating Antonelli. Antonelli's dominant win marked his ninth victory of the 2026 season, putting the Mercedes driver on the brink of securing the Formula 1 world championship at the upcoming Mexican Grand Prix.
