Liverpool are starting to action their winter transfer plans, but two stars look set to leave.
Liverpool defenders Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are reportedly expected to leave the club on free transfers in the summer upon the expiry of their contracts. According to a report from Football Insider, the departures would come just one year into manager Andoni Iraola's tenure at Anfield.
New sporting director Julian Ward faces seven first-team players entering the final year of their contracts ahead of the 2026/27 season's end. While 35-year-old captain Van Dijk has played every Premier League minute, Gomez's availability has been limited by injuries, featuring for just over 100 minutes this campaign.
