The Story in 60 Seconds

Lancashire will consider organizing a farewell event for veteran bowler James Anderson following fan unrest over his departure. Club members voiced anger at a tense meeting at Old Trafford on Monday after the 44-year-old was released following a 24-year association with the county. Incoming director of cricket Paul Farbrace and new chief executive Richard Kenyon addressed around 200 members, agreeing to seek a solution to properly honor Anderson.

Farbrace defended releasing Anderson, explaining that he plans to build a County Championship-winning squad over the next four years without the veteran seamer. Anderson, who served as Lancashire's Championship captain and claimed 50 wickets last season, has not retired and has reportedly drawn interest from several other counties.
