Chennai Super Kings have appointed former South Africa all-rounder Albie Morkel as an assistant coach ahead of the IPL 2027 season. Morkel will serve as deputy to newly announced head coach Zaheer Khan following coaching reshuffles triggered by the team's failure to qualify for the playoffs in three consecutive seasons.
Morkel previously played for CSK from 2008 to 2013 and also serves as head coach of the JoBurg Super Kings in the SA20 league. In addition to Morkel, CSK confirmed the appointments of former England international Gareth Batty as an assistant coach and former seamer Mohit Sharma as bowling coach.
