Tim Stützle’s explosive offence and growing defensive impact have elevated the Ottawa Senators. If his early pace continues, he could enter the NHL’s elite tier this season.

SenShot's Matthew Nafe argues that Ottawa Senators center Tim Stützle is poised to enter the NHL's top 20 players this season. The 24-year-old German has recorded eight goals and eight assists across his first 12 games, helping propel Ottawa to an 8-4-0 start. His early production also saw him surpass Leon Draisaitl for the most career NHL points by a European-trained player before turning 25.
Nafe attributes Stützle's elevated play to his developing two-way game under head coach Travis Green, noting improved faceoff percentages and penalty-killing duties alongside his offensive production. Despite frequently rotated linemates, Stützle has found success alongside Claude Giroux and Fabian Zetterlund, which Nafe believes could lead to career-high totals and a potential playoff push.
