Ahmadzai and Rashid's knocks helped Afghanistan to 177 on a sluggish wicket before the latter plucked out two wickets with the ball…

Afghanistan defeated Zimbabwe by 37 runs in the opening match of their three-match T20I series in Sharjah. After slumping to 66 for 5 on a slow pitch, Afghanistan posted 177, driven by a 20-ball fifty from Ijaz Ahmad Ahmadzai and a rapid 30 off 10 balls from Rashid Khan. Zimbabwe were subsequently bowled out for 140 in their chase.
Fazalhaq Farooqi starred with the ball taking 3 for 13, while Rashid Khan claimed 2 for 20 and Mujeeb Ur Rahman took 2 for 27. Ryan Burl top-scored for Zimbabwe with 32, but their batting lineup struggled to build partnerships, cementing Afghanistan's 20-2 overall T20I record against Zimbabwe.
