Stuart Broad has blasted Lancashire's decision to not renew James Anderson's contract as "disrespectful".

Stuart Broad has criticized Lancashire's decision not to offer James Anderson a new playing contract for the 2027 season, labeling the move "disrespectful." Anderson, who took 50 wickets at an average of 17 in Division Two this past season, confirmed via social media that the exit was not his choice. Speaking on the For the Love of Cricket podcast, Broad argued that the club's leadership handled the departure poorly and failed to provide the legendary fast bowler with an appropriate send-off.
Lancashire's new director of cricket, Paul Farbrace, explained that the difficult decision was made alongside new chief executive Richard Kenyon on October 19. Farbrace stated that the non-renewal is part of a broader plan to rebuild the squad to achieve promotion and challenge for the Division One title. Broad noted that Anderson did not announce his retirement, suggesting other counties may show interest in signing him.
