Arteta has been reluctant to address the situation…

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta faced criticism from former player Paul Merson for his angry reaction toward 16-year-old Max Dowman following the teenager's red card against Fleetwood Town. Dowman was sent off for appearing to kick out at Harrison Neal during a Carabao Cup match that ended 1-1, which Arsenal subsequently lost on penalties to the League Two side.
Merson argued on Sky Sports that Arteta should have offered support rather than berating the youngster. Arteta explained his frustration to BBC Radio 5 Live, noting the two had previously discussed discipline prior to the match.
