The Brewers’ World Series dominance over the past week has drummed up some really unpleasant Tigers memories from almost 15 years ago.

Connor Muldowney of Motor City Bengals writes that the Milwaukee Brewers' commanding performance in the 2026 World Series is recalling painful memories for Detroit Tigers supporters. With the Brewers leading 3-0 against the Tampa Bay Rays, the series could produce the first 4-0 sweep since the Tigers were swept by the San Francisco Giants in 2012.
Muldowney reflects on Detroit's missed opportunities, noting that despite boasting stars like Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder, Justin Verlander, and Max Scherzer, the 2012 Tigers managed only five runs across four games. The author also touches on Detroit's 2006 World Series loss to the St. Louis Cardinals following Magglio Ordoñez's famous pennant-clinching home run.
