Double World Cup winner Bongi Mbonambi has returned to the Stormers on a one-year deal.

Double World Cup winner Bongi Mbonambi has rejoined the Stormers on a one-year deal from the Sharks. The Springbok hooker previously played 74 matches for the club between 2015 and 2021 before his Sharks contract was mutually terminated following a disciplinary dispute. He is available for immediate selection ahead of the United Rugby Championship match against Ulster at DHL Stadium.
The signing addresses an acute availability crisis for Stormers Director of Rugby John Dobson. The club is currently missing hookers André-Hugo Venter, Deon Fourie, Lukhanyo Vokozela, Almero Keizer, and Luca Bakkes due to injuries, while JJ Kotzé is serving a suspension.
