ST. PETERSBURG -- The 2026 World Series was threatening to be “scintillating … for a sweep.” But now it’s scintillating on its own accord.

The Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays face off in Game 5 of the World Series on Wednesday night at Tropicana Field. After the Rays avoided a sweep with a dramatic 4-3, 12-inning victory in Game 4, Milwaukee holds a 3-1 series lead and remains one win away from clinching its first franchise championship.
Milwaukee will start ace Jacob Misiorowski on normal rest, while Tampa Bay faces a likely bullpen game after exhausting its rotation arms. Tampa Bay manager Kevin Cash noted most relievers would be available for an inning or more as the club attempts to become the first team in World Series history to force a Game 6 after trailing 3-0.
