Cameron Bancroft ended a 364-day drought with an emotional century to put Western Australia in a dominant position after Day 1 of their Sheffield Shield clash with South Australia.
Cameron Bancroft ended a 364-day century drought by scoring an unbeaten 156 for Western Australia on Day 1 of their Sheffield Shield clash against South Australia. Bancroft shared a 244-run second-wicket partnership with Jayden Goodwin, who scored 108, guiding Western Australia to 3/304 at stumps at the Adelaide Oval.
The innings marked Bancroft's 25th century for Western Australia and his first since a run of 11 consecutive half-centuries without reaching triple figures. The milestone comes as Australia's top order faces scrutiny during their Test tour in South Africa, keeping Bancroft in the frame for a potential national recall.
