The Royal Spanish Football Federation has postponed all 24 Copa del Rey matches scheduled for Wednesday following a fatal train collision in Toledo. At least 50 people were killed and 179 injured when two high-speed trains collided between Los Yebenes and Urda. The federation announced the suspension as a sign of respect and solidarity with the victims, stating that revised schedules will be confirmed in the coming days.
Wednesday's postponed first-round fixtures included several La Liga clubs, such as Levante, Alaves, Valencia, Celta Vigo, and Real Betis. A decision regarding Thursday's 14 scheduled matches has not yet been announced. Meanwhile, Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez expressed shock and offered support to emergency services and the victims' families as rescue operations continued.
