Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is preparing to deploy an altered back four for the upcoming match against Alaves amid a defensive injury crisis, according to reports. The team currently has only four fit senior defenders available following their recent El Clasico defeat to Real Madrid. Jules Kounde has been training separately from the main group due to an ankle problem, while defender Xavi Espart is expected to miss nearly two months after suffering an injury on Sunday.
Flick is exploring several tactical solutions, including calling up academy players Ebrima Tunkara and Alex Campos to first-team training. Midfielder Brian Farinas has also emerged as a potential emergency option at right-back, a role he tested during pre-season. Meanwhile, Andreas Christensen remains sidelined but the club hopes he might return in time for the upcoming La Liga clash against Atletico Madrid.
