The Los Angeles Clippers host the Los Angeles Lakers at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, five days after losing their previous meeting on the road at Crypto.com Arena. The Lakers enter the matchup with a 3-0 record led by the backcourt of Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, alongside center Walker Kessler. Meanwhile, the Clippers sit at 1-2 on the season under head coach Ty Lue as they look to even the series at home.
The Clippers enter the contest heavily depleted with six players sidelined by injuries, including Brandon Ingram, Rui Hachimura, Max Strus, Yanic Konan Niederhauser, Jordan Miller, and Bradley Beal. Kobe Sanders is slated to start in place of the injured Hachimura, while writer Robert Flom notes that Baba Miller could see increased bench minutes due to the roster shortages. The Lakers list only Adou Thiero out due to a knee injury.
